NOTE: The United States Post Office requests that the height of the bottom of the metal box be between 40" and 45" from the street payment. This means that the metal box should be approximately 38" from the top of the curb and the bottom of the mailbox. The front edge of the 6 x 6 post should be approximately 29" to 39" from the edge of the concrete curb and grass.
Mark Before You Dig Call 811 If you decide to install you own mailbox post, you must first call 1.800.382.5544 and request that the existing post area, or where the new post is to be located, be marked for any utilities. You must allow several days for the service to mark the area.
